Jacqueline and Jason’s Scottsdale, AZ wedding was filled with love, energy, and tons of personality! Documenting their day was truly an honor, and I could not have asked for a better experience with them. I love all of my couples, but there’s something about those with whom I can have the best time while photographing their day. Without further ado, let’s get into what made their Scottsdale, AZ wedding one for the books!
One of the first things that would be a crime not to mention is their venue choice. Instead of going the traditional route, J & J chose to book two completely different venues for their ceremony and reception. I love how this couple thought out of the box in terms of location, as I’m a fan of events based on the couple’s preferences and personalities. At Kyla Jeanette, we love weddings that aren’t afraid to be bold or ‘out of the ordinary.’ We thrive off of creativity and strive to personalize our approach to each couple. J & J are definitely not a traditional couple by any means, which just might be why we got along so perfectly! Let’s talk a bit about their venues, and if either of them appeal to you, you and I will most likely get along pretty well, too.
Jacqueline and Jason chose Country Club at DC Ranch as their wedding ceremony venue, and it could not have been more breathtaking. Between the mountain views and beautiful, organic architecture, the photographer in me was thrilled to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery. I mean, just look at it! The space was very reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa, with cobblestone floors outdoors and classic limewash walls. They were able to have a stunning first look with all of the venue’s best features in their photos!
Country Club at DC Ranch has two locations available for ceremonies: the Courtyard and The Event Lawn. J & J had their ceremony on The Event Lawn where they and their guest enjoyed panoramic views of the gorgeous McDowell Mountains! Not to mention, Arizona offers the most epic sunsets, and the viewpoint from their ceremony spot wasn’t too shabby.
Onto their reception venue – Hangar One could not have been more Avante Garde, especially compared to Country Club at DC Ranch. The two venues provided such a beautiful contrast against the other, something we don’t see for most weddings! The Red Room of the hangar is lined with red ceilings and floors that provide such a stark contrast from the rest of the space. It gave a very modern, industrial vibe that many contemporary couples are a fan of! The world-class design of the hangar will appeal to any couple who wants a high-end yet not overly-polished location for their celebration. The juxtaposition of the two venues just blows me away every time I think about it.
Now that I’ve obsessed over the venues, I would love to take a moment and talk about the couple themselves. At the beginning of the blog, I mentioned how the time I spent with J & J throughout the planning process and on their wedding day was absolutely wonderful. They trusted me entirely to document their day in an authentic way, which is not a privilege I take lightly. With Jacqueline winning the title of Miss Arizona 2019, she’s worked with countless, very talented photographers. So the fact that she chose our team to be by their side on the most important day made my heart swell with gratitude!
While I was alongside J & J, I couldn’t help but notice how fun-loving and laid back they were the entire time. It can be easy to let the pressure of your wedding get to you, but not in their case. They really just wanted everyone to have a great time, and they created the perfect environment and embodied the necessary attitude for that to happen. They trusted their vendors completely to execute their vision, and the result was they didn’t have to worry about a thing! Instead, they were able to be fully present for their day and celebrate with their friends and family. Which, by the way, was another highlight of working with them! Their people were beyond amazing, trusting us just as much as the couple themselves. They weren’t afraid to be silly and goofy (in front of and off-camera!) while still keeping it classy.
Their reception at Hangar One was when the high-energy of their guests really came in to play. Don’t let me calm and collected deamenor fool you – I love a good rowdy crowd! I pride myself on getting your people excited and worked up to produce photos like these. And trust me, I’m not afraid to get down on the dance floor with them!
