Dreamy Wedding Shoot at Monte Ventoso, Madison VA

Creating this styled wedding shoot at Monte Ventoso in Virginia alongside the fabulous Lisa Gaskarth was such a fulfilling creative experience. This Italian-inspired villa is exquisite in every detail, with Tuscan charm around each corner, and it is such a dream to work there. I had previously done an editorial portrait session here, so getting to return with a team of world-class vendors and models and make some magic was wonderful. 

Elegant Florals Stole the Show at Monte Ventoso

The flowers were a crucial element of this Monte Ventoso wedding shoot. We chose to create a ceremony space in the Monte Ventoso stone courtyard, where the beautiful symmetrical facade forms a natural focal point. Wendy Mercer’s floral work mimicked the shape of the columns — a full arch would’ve distracted from the architecture, but these blooming pillars struck exactly the right balance.

Her true triumph, though, was the table flowers! A riot of green foliage and white blooms cascaded down the tablescape in a display of elegant drama worthy of this venue. The inclusion of mosses on the table really took this to the next level: it elevated the florals from simple decor to an immersive experience. We also experimented with different bouquets: the more structural bouquet, created with blossoming branches, was so striking. It was such an interesting contrast with the softness of the Neta Dover dress and the clean lines of the Monte Ventoso villa.
