D.C. is woven in and out of this lovely couple’s love story – so these Washington DC engagement photos are only fitting! I had the best time exploring Capitol Hill with Dana and David to capture this exciting season in their lives.
Dana and David worked 50 feet away from each other, both in offices at the White House, but in spite of their proximity, it wasn’t until mutual friends invited them to a Marine One viewing that they actually met. See, I told you there was a good reason for these Washington DC engagement photos! They went out to a DC bar for their first date and the rest is history.
For Dana and David’s engagement session, we decided on an iconic backdrop – the National Mall. They told me that they love taking walks around the Capitol Hill area, so we strolled beside the Reflecting Pool and made it to the Lincoln Memorial right as the most beautiful golden hour light hit it.
One of the things I love about these Washington DC engagement photos is that these amazing DC landmarks aren’t the point. They sit softly in the background as the perfect foil for this elegant and very in-love couple – just as they have for the whole of their love story.
When I asked what Dana loves the most about David, she said, “David makes me the person I want to be, he is the most thoughtful and selfless person I know and he brings out the best in everyone around him.”
David, on the other hand, said this about Dana: “She makes me feel comfortable in my own skin wherever we are. She walks into a room and is immediately a presence, not just because of her stunning looks, but because she treats everyone how she would want to be treated, with respect and love.”
With love like that, I am confident that these engagement photos are just the beginning of a long and beautiful journey!
