For these Virginia Beach engagement photos, we wanted to create something in an editorial style that really emphasized Edi and Dolapo’s connection and beauty. These two are literally stunning. You would think they were models for a styled shoot, but nope – two people in love, celebrating a huge milestone in their lives.

An Elegant Take on Beach Engagement Photos

We knew that we wanted a really minimalist color palette, so being able to choose the locations was really important to me. I am familiar with Virginia Beach, so I was able to scout spots with great lighting and few people, which meant we got to have these gorgeous wide shots with this couple glowing against stretches of pale sand.

For their first look, out in the city, Edi and Delapo wore almost-matching suits in shades of cream and sand. It really brought out their sharp sophistication, which worked perfectly against the stone and glass of the city district. 

For the actual beach engagement photos, we shifted gears into something a little more playful. They kept the simple color scheme but changed into loose linen looks. These are the shots where their vibrant fun really comes out! Then, as night began to fall, they got into their third and final looks – formal attire that really shone against the darkening skyline for a dramatic finish.
